Registration for Taxes

  •  Back
  • Trade Licenses
  • Registration for Business Tax
  • Registration for General Sales Tax (GST)
  • Register for Social Security

After registering your business or company and obtaining your trade license, all businesses must register with the Belize Tax Service for tax purposes.

The Belize Tax Service issues a unique Tax Identification Number (TIN) after completing the registration process, which is the same number used for General Sales Tax (GST) and Customs and Excise processes.

Step Three (3): Registration for Business Tax

Business Tax is a tax on TOTAL REVENUES or RECEIPTS whether in cash or in-kind and whether received or credited without any deduction for expenses. It is payable by any person practicing his profession, or firm carrying on business in Belize, and includes:

  • Individuals
  • Partnerships
  • Companies/Corporations
  • Consultants, both local (Resident) and Foreign (Non-Resident)
  • And any other ‘person’ who is in the business of providing goods and services

Businesses, companies, and self-employed persons earning in excess of BZ$75,000 per annum when conducting business or trade must pay business tax (or when practicing a profession or vocation and earning more than BZ$20,000 per annum). Any individual or person conducting business activities in excess of what is mentioned above should register and pay Business Tax.

Business tax is paid to the Belize Tax Service’s Income Tax Department monthly on the total monthly receipts of a business. The business tax rate varies according to business classification, as demonstrated by the table below.
